CM12 ROM Alpha for Galaxy S2! [Android 5.0 Lollipop]

For those of you wondering where is Android 5.0 Lollipop for Galaxy S2 smartphones, I have some good and bad news.

The good news is that there are working versions of CM12 ROM alpha, which will give you the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The bad news is that these ROMs are still in “alpha” stages, meaning there are many bugs.  However, if you do want to try out the Android 5.0 Lollipop today, you can make a backup ROM, try Lollipop, then restore your previous ROM.

AOKP ROM + Uber Kernel for T-Mobile Galaxy S2! [Android 4.4.4/2Ghz OC]

For this week’s T-Mobile Galaxy S2 ROM of the Week, check out latest AOKP ROM with Android 4.4.4 along with latest Uber kernel with up to 2Ghz overclocking support. (Updated 9/15/2014)

Although this isn’t official AOKP (as there’s no more official builds for T-Mobile S2), it’s a solid performer and you can expect to get all of latest Android 4.4.4 AOKP features along with full ROM Control.   Add in the latest Uber kernel (and overclock to 1.89Ghz, my recommendations setting, use TricksterMOD App on Play Store) and you have a fast-performing custom ROM with the latest and greatest Android 4.4.4 custom ROM tweaks/features.

CM11 ROM + OnePlus One Conversion Kit for Galaxy S2!

For those of you looking to try out the new OnePlus One smartphone, did you know you can install CM11 ROM and our HighOnAndroid OnePlus One conversion kit on your Galaxy S2?

This combination essentially turns your Galaxy S2 into OnePlus One, you will get nearly all of OnePlus One software features like OnePlus One lockscreen, Hexo theme, OnePlus One camera, Voice Recording app, and Screencast app (allows you to record voice while recording screen but having some trouble getting working on SGH-T989, works fine on GT-i9100 and SGH-i777).

AOKP KitKat ROM for Galaxy S2! [GT-i9100/SGH-i777]

For this week’s Galaxy S2 ROM of the week, check out AOKP KitKat ROM.

Based on the latest Android 4.4.2, AOKP ROM now is fully supported on KitKat along with subtle new additions/improvements to AOKP ROM Control.  Although this is specifically made for GT-i9100, you can also easily install on SGH-i777 AT&T S2 using a custom kernel (See below for instructions on that).

CM11 ROM with Android 4.4 KitKat for Galaxy S2! [GT-i9100/SGH-i777/SGH-T989]

For this week’s ROM of the week for Galaxy S2 GT-i9100, SGH-i777, and SGH-T989, check out CM11 ROM.

Galaxy S2 GT-i9100

For GT-i9100, check out CyanFox ROM, built on CM11 and everything working out of the box including calls, data, camera, camcorder, video, sensors, wifi, gps, etc… I do recommend trying this build out as daily driver since everything is working and you should find a pleasant Android 4.4 KitKat experience.

Carbon ROM for T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989! [Android 4.3][1.836Ghz OC]

For this week’s T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 ROM of the week, check out latest Carbon ROM bundled with latest Android 4.3.

Carbon ROM Android 4.3 now comes with animation menu that allows you to fully control all of your transition animations.  This is one of my favorite features and Carbon Team has done a fantastic job of bringing customization so you can change every little transition animation to your liking.

AOKP ROM MR2 for T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989! [Android 4.3]

For those of you with a T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989, you should be happy to learn that you can install the first AOKP ROM MR2 based on latest Android 4.3.

This isn’t an official build (and we are not sure if there will ever be official builds starting with Android 4.3) but it is fairly-close to the final build and runs pretty smooth.  Also, we saw AOKP ROM Control losing featuring during ICS to Jelly Bean upgrade and taking a long time before some of AOKP core features were added back in.  In the MR2 variation, that is not the case and you will get all of your previous Android 4.2.2 AOKP ROM Control features plus a wee-bit more.
