AOKP ROM + Wild Kernel for T-Mobile Galaxy S2! [Android 4.4.4]

aokprom-tmobilegalaxys2-sgh-t989

For this week’s T-Mobile Galaxy S2 ROM of the Week, check out latest AOKP ROM + Wild Kernel!

Based on latest Android 4.4.4, AOKP ROM is one of the custom ROMs that started the whole custom ROM Control customization options couple years back.  Certainly one of the custom ROMs you must try at least once.  This is also one of my “go-to” ROMs.

The latest AOKP ROM brings nice performance enhancements along with the latest Android 4.4.4 plus full AOKP ROM Control Settings.

Inside ROM Control Settings, you will be able to customize your T-Mobile S2 lockscreen, status bar, toggles, Power Menu, Navigation Bar/Ring, system animations, and much much more.

Although many custom ROMs have similar features to AOKP ROM, remember AOKP ROM Control Setting is the true “original”.

For overclocking, if you install Wild kernel, you can overclock up to 1.89Ghz for graphic-intensive gaming.  Use Trickster MOD app from Play Store. (See video overview on how to overclock.)

So I went to flash this custom ROM from another KitKat 4.4.4 ROM (wipe cache then dalvik cache) and I ended up getting stuck in a bootloop.

I’ve had my phone for a little over a year and decided to finally root it – that was successful.

I found your website this past weekend and found the instructions very helpful for rooting. I then discovered the ROMs and tried to install first the Carbon ROM and then this one (AOKP) – both gave me the status 7 error. I searched the site and copied darkside superwipe – so I used that.

I’m sure I’m missing something elementary – is there any way you could give some detailed instructions? For now, my phone is stuck in a boot-loop.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention that I have the T-Mobile S2.

I ended up updating CWM Recovery 6.0.4.3 for KitKat custom ROMs – after that the install went flawlessly.

The phone appeared to be dead after that for about 10 minutes or so, but then it restarted… I assume it was processing the new ROM.

Thanks ! Saw your post after getting stuck trying to solve the “Status 7”. Updated CWM and good to go.

Hi, I would like to know if the camera works and don’t have a delay like the other roms?

  • Ian

hey all.i’ve tried to flash this rom.it went well and it was a good rom.but after several hours my phone started rebooting every hour and after a few hours later it got stuck on a bootloop. i tried following the instructions above on how to fix the bootloop by wiping/formatting the /system in the recovery mode but it didn’t fix the problem.that was the only issue I had.but if you have not encountered that issue, the rom should be doing great. I went back to the cm11 nightly and waiting for other rom updates. 😀

      Hello, good day to everyone.
I’ve tried it for a day around, at first all right, I had liked the camera worked pretty well, but suddenly stopped recognizing the internal memory card, and no longer allow me to access the photo gallery, it was not all, to be in the Startup screen, began to seem as if it were an old TV, the image became blurred as if the TV signal is not good. So in the end I uninstalled …
