For this week’s T-Mobile Galaxy S2 ROM of the week, check out SuperNexus ROM with Android 4.3 for T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989.

What is SuperNexus ROM?

Basically SuperNexus ROM is geared towards giving users pure Google Nexus experience, this ROM will essentially turn your T-Mobile S2 into a Nexus 4 minus the hardware.

We’ve featured this ROM over a month ago for GT-i9100 and SGH-i777, and now XDA user Cl3Kener has ported to the T-Mobile Galaxy S2.

SuperNexus ROM is great for those of you looking to experience stock Nexus and stability of Android 4.3 without all the customization. Overall, it’s a great stable ROM that’s also great for those of you just starting with AOSP ROMs (What is AOSP?).

Whether you are looking for pure Google experience or an AOSP ROM that’s simple enough for your mother to use, SuperNexus may be the answer so give it a test drive this week(end) and do let me know what you think!

Download:

Download SuperNexus ROM for T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989

Download Android 4.3 Gapps (for all, DO NOT USE Android 4.2 Gapps, they will FC!)

Download SuperSU

Download Flash Player APK (if you want flash player)

DownloadAndroid 4.3 PhotoSphere (if you want photosphere, but may force close so make a backup of your Gallery app using Titanium Backup app before installing!  )

To install, reboot into recovery, make backup ROM, wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, install Gapps, install SuperSU and reboot.   (If for some reason you end up in a bootloop or get lots of FCs, reboot into recovery, go to Advanced Wipe for TWRP or Mounts & Storage for CWM, format/wipe /system, then re-install ROM.)

i cant seem to see my pics after i installed it but i can see them on the computer

    • Aaron says:

A lot of people are having issues with the gallery app and RR on 4.3 aosp ROMs. Personally I have tried a few 4.3 ROMs and all of them are not DD ready. I personally am going to wait until CM releases a stabile version of 4.3 before upgrading. All of the aosp ROMs are based of CM, so until it is ready for primetime none of the ROMs will be ready. 4.2.2 official carbon rom for me, at least for now.

    • kyle says:

just get a gallary app of the store and use titanium to delet the origanal gallery

  2. bc says:

I justo can’t make it work, any timetime I installed it works but then when i turned it off ir just won’t turn on, any help?

  3. Joe says:

I would like to thank you for all of your help! I have a quick question though, do I need to extract the zip files when I download them?? Someone please respond to help me out! thanks!

    • Aaron says:

No you flash the zip files in recover. I recommend you watch some of Max’s how to root videos, before you start. You don’t want to brick you phone.

  4. JR says:

I always end up in bootloop. I followed all the instructions if it’s stuck in the loop but nothing happens. I was using JMT v6 then.

  5. Brian Kurowski says:

There was a rom that a loud you to scroll the app bar at the bottom like you scroll through your home screens. Does anybody remember what rom that was!?

  6. theking says:

All who’s having problems with restarting and such….
Go to recovery, go to Mounts & Storage for CWM, format/system, then re-install ROM, Gapps, and Superuser. It fixed all problems for me. This rom is 99% stable if you do this.

  7. Cory says:

Rom installed fine, but whenever i try to access the gallery it keeps restarting….can anyone help?

    • Aaron says:

This is a common issue with 4.3. You should try and remove your old pics and videos from the sd card, a good time to back up you old stuff and start fresh. Then you may need to reflash the rom.

Also if the rom you are using has focal installed, I recommend that you never use it, or disable/remove this app completely. The camera app is not ready for prime time on our device and I thing that Dev should be removing it from the roms.

As far a camera apps go for aosp I still like Snap.

      Good luck

  8. sal says:

I am a total newb so please understand my dumb question.
I did everything you’ve instructed and everything is good and all, but where is the app store??? Can’t find it anywhere on my phone.

  9. jay says:

Those people who are having trouble with the gallery use quickpic from the play store

  10. WNF says:

I am having problem with Gallery too, even I install QuickPic, whenever I open QuickPic, the phone reboot as well. I even disable the Gallery already, still reboot whenever open QuickPic.
    any idea?

  11. RH says:

I can’t install. I’m getting an error that says: “radio must be newer than UVMC6″. I tried to find a newer radio but the latest one I can find it UVMC6. Any ideas?

  12. Benjamin C says:

where can I find the Developer mode/options to turn on ADB?

  13. J says:

I have had a problem when trying to install any ROM.

I go through all the steps and when I choose the ROM file in CWM, I get an error saying “Installation Aborted.”

Has anyone else encountered this, and how do I fix this? I have the correct phone model and everything…

    Thank you.

  14. Benjamin C says:

Go to the XDA website for installation instruction, use TWRP instead of CWM.

  15. Tien says:

Please help, nice Rom, but the steps in the mode, then reboot logo are standing at X

  16. BC says:

Anyone has issue with microphone on phone calls or Skype, etc. no sound.

    • Julio says:

I recomend you, you use the rom Jedimind Trick, I installed another’s rom and I have the same problem, and I don’t know why???, but I have the problem whit line and viber, I use that ROM and believe me, you don’t have that problem again, of course I use now the version 8 and is a great ROM :D

  17. Regan Singh says:

I flashed this ROM and it is working fine. But before flashing it asked me to update the radio, I did and now it is not showing network in my phone….Anyone knows a workaround?!!!

  18. ivan says:

I like it a lot, but lgoogle maps keeps crashing on me (in navigation mode) after a couple minutes of working well. Does anybody know the solution?

  19. RAF says:

The Gallery drove me nuts. It was the only thing that I hated about the ROM.

    THANKS for the QUICKPIC program.

Only one that worked to see all my photos.

    It’s a great workaround.
