hi max, what do you mean by (unless coming from AOKP rom)??? do i just install the rom without doing wipe data
AND if an app doesnt work on a rom, what could that mean??
    THX!!!

    • Jordi Paulus says:

If you’re coming from a previous version of an AOKP build, there is no need to do a wipe/factory reset.
What do you mean by: “If an app doesnt work on a rom”?
      Give a example! 😉

      • Eric says:

I came from AOKP MR1 Build 5 and tried to do a dirty update, and only deleted my cache and dalvik cache, but it didn’t work right still. It will just keep saying system UI has stopped working over and over, so I rebooted and just did a clean rom install. Is there something I’m missing for doing the dirty update and keeping my data?

        • Jordi Paulus says:

Install Titanium Backup and backup all your files and system data! 😉
I don’t know why this is happening.. :/

      • ghost says:

i mean like, (viber) and (gtalk) used to work on my previous rom which was (rootbox)… but now after i installed aokp build 6, it doesn’t work… viber only works for messaging but the calling is not working, and gtalk the same only for messaging….???
        do you have any idea?

hey max does any roms have a screen capture built in

      • Nishant says:

Just hold the power button and you may see the screenshot tab…if you still couldnt find it then you may find the option in the ROM Control tab…!
        Cheers.!

      • Arnon says:

in most of the AOKP based ROMs (or all of them?) you can hold power button + volume down button to take a screen capture

  2. prashanth says:

    Does it have multi Window

  3. Anthony says:

im using aokp mr1 build 5 and i want to go to build 6, so i dont have to factory reset right?

    • borghorhay says:

No you don’t. I just came from build 5 as well. Just flash the rom and g apps without wiping any data/factory reset, dalvik cache etc. All your data, apps & settings will remain the same, make sure you do a backup before flashing the new build though, just in case. Doesn’t hurt to be cautious. The new lockscreen customisation that Max talks about in the video is really cool.

Has anyone figured out how to change the storage location on the default camera and video recorder?? I can’t get it to save onto my external SD, so I can hardly record cuz I dnt have much internal space left. Any help here?

      Peace

      • Tommy says:

I’ve just been manually moving the files via whatever file manager, but if anyone knows an easier way, please share.

        • goolong says:

Use ES file explorer then you can set the default download locations, i think camera store locations is also there.

does blue tooth tethering work in this rom?????

  5. heavy g says:

Having troubles with the screen turning off.
Sometimes trying to make a phone call and screen won’t turn back on – very annoying when trying to end a call! Also, screen randomly won’t turn on (phone is on though because power button turns on the backlight buttons). Had to hard reset multiple times. Went back to build 5 – found that more stable.

  6. jassi says:

it seems like non of the 4.2.2 rom’s support canadian modem. ugld3.
if i change it then bluetooth works but then it puts me in roaming, therefore mms doesn’t work and, i have to tick allow roaming data to have data connection.

      this sucks

  14. Pedro-San says:

I can’t get any Google apps working (Play also). There is also not any option to add a Google account, just exchange and normal mail. I also can’t switch on data transfer via USB….

    Anybody?

  15. Eric says:

I’d like to try installing a different kernel for the t989 and this rom, but I have no idea where to start for that, any searches only find unofficial versions of this rom. Ideally, I’d like to be able to overclock, and possibly dual boot.

If I plug the phone into the computer all of the files on it are there but the selection for accessing the SD is greyed out on the phone. Any suggestions please? Thank you.

  27. Lon Alkalay says:

Hi Max, or anyone that can help.

Google Play will not work what so ever.
I’ve cleared cache, data, reinstalled, fixed permissions, rebooted. And it STILL Crashes Instantly upon opening it.

    What do you suggest?

    • Emma says:

I found making a fresh down load of gapps from the website (deleting the old one from my phone and computer first) and then transferring it to the phone SD for re installation helped resolve this issue for me.

  28. HamidHelal says:

I’m waiting for someone , who playing with it and recommend for my T989

  29. Emma says:

    Hi there,

Thanks for your help with the SD card Jordi, I re installed build 6 and the SD card can now be read for app transfer. 3G is also now working. My signal strength is not as good as it was, does anyone have a fix for this?

Finally please can anyone help with my storage problem?

Internal storage (phone?)= 156MB App (data and media), cached data 13.73MB, availiable 9.02MB out of 1.97GB.
Internal storage (USB?) = 95MB Apps, 87.50MB Pictures/video, 64.00KB Audio, 94.20MB Downloads, 20.00 Cached data, and Misc 122MB, availiable 11.08GB out of 11.49GB (lots of storage but I can’t access it),
    SD Storage = 6.88GB out of 7.60GB.

My phone keeps telling me it is running out of storage and I can’t downloads apps. I have tried to research this and have cleared various caches (they fill up almost instantly) and redundant odex files for old apps etc, even deleted apps/photos/text messages/wigits etc but still no storage. This happened after re installing build 6 and I have done so twice more since – still the same.
Any new ideas would be most welcome, I really appreciate your help in advance.

I love this ROM and don’t want to change it for anything else so that is the only suggestion that I probably wouldn’t go with!

I have a galaxy s2 i9100. I tried installing the AOKP MR1 Build 6 and it gave me an Error, e: system verification error. I tried again with a secure XWKE8 kernel, but the same continues. Do i need to go in for a Siyah kernel or not.. If i do which kernel do i go for? I am running stock gingerbread. I really feel lost.

Ok if u haven’t downloaded goo manager from play store do it…this solved all my glitches with this rom. Gapps has a….. 2013 update camera is now working no more glitchy screen everything flawless. On T-Mobile t989

    • Shawn says:

I dont know why, but when I downloaded goo manager to update / flash Gapps The service stopped and kept crashing every second… I had to flash the original Gapps that AOKP provided in order for it to work again… any one else have that problem?

  35. Frankie G says:

installed this rom last week and has worked great all except for one thing, calls have been sounding cloudy to some people. I’m not sure if anyone else has had this issue or not and if there is any kind of fix for this. i have the T989.

  36. Nestor says:

Frankie G, go to dial pad, menu, scroll to noise cancellation option and select it., this worked for me.

    • Frankie G says:

Thanks Nestor. That resolved my problem and people can now hear me lol

    • t989 user says:

I’m at the dial pad, but I don’t see menu, do you mean “settings”? Even after I click on settings I don’t see noise cancellation option.

      Do you mean “Noise suppression”?

It’s already selected and people have a hard time hearing me, they described it as muffle and choppy.

Only ran for one day. Interface is beautiful and every app works. Unfortunately battery life is half what it used to be with liquid smooth. Also noticed that my phone stayed warmer than normal (not exactly hot just noticeably warmer) than with liquid smooth. When I checked the Device Battery for usage, it said 43% was used by Phone. I made 1 3 min phone call. Also 41% was used by messaging, I made mabye 10-15 sent and received text messages. It’s really nice but gonna try something else, gotta have a full days charge or else it’s pointless.
Liquid Smooth (and most decent ROMS) gave me a charge all day till midnight with a little left
This ROM, my battery died from 8am to 5pm 🙁
Could be a setting I need to change but couldnt find it. I am open to suggestions.

    • Roman says:

Oh one more thing, no data switch on toggles…..really needs a data switch in toggles. Really liked the transparent status bar, really liked it.
      This was for a T989.

I have the same problem. Battery life is poor. But everything else is perfect. I don’t know much about kernals. Can anyone advise. Do I need a new kernal or is that the same as just changing performance settings. I want performance and good battery like original samsung rom. Asking too much?

MHL Adapter Is Not Working, It Was Before, Is This An Aokp Issue Or Do I Need A Different Kernel? Or What Else Could Be

  40. Shawn says:

for all complaining about battery life…

Go on ebay and buy 2 batteries and a wall charger for about $10 (make sure its 1850mah or better with good seller reviews)

I usually go through 1-2 batteries a day… at night I can charge one with the wall charger and the other in my phone and im good to go again the next day…

    • matt says:

The only problem with this is that I have to take my case of every day and taking the battery out of the S2 isn’t very easy compared to other phones. I doubt it will do the phone back much good taking it off daily either. May look into bigger batteries.
