For those of you who have been waiting for Android 4.4 KitKat ROM, you can definitely try out the latest Omni ROM, which comes with Android 4.4 KitKat.

Omni ROM is a “preview” ROM and video replay is not working on this ROM so I do not recommend it as a daily driver.  BUT, you can easily make a backup ROM before installing this ROM, try it out, then restore your ROM.

Other than video replay not working, Omni ROM has everything working out of the box including data (to get data working, make sure you put your APN for your carrier!!!), wifi, bluetooth, etc…etc…

With this ROM, you will be able to get a taste of what’s coming with Android 4.4 KitKat and it is pretty darn smooth/faster than Jelly Bean ROMs.   Definitely give it a test drive this week(end) and do let me know what you think!

  2. Kyle says:

Looks promising … but think I’ll wait for a stable kitkat build, where everything works straight outa the box.

Sticking with Bifter V12 till then 🙂

  8. Tony says:

I spent some time and got everything working, except one big thing…making and receiving calls. The call goes through but neither party can hear the other. Anyone have any ideas? I really like this ROM, but if the phone does not work, that is a showstopper.

  9. DroidShout says:

How is everyone going back to other roms? Im stuck on Omni and can’t flash nothing. And I can’t flash thru odin because my phone doesn’t get recognized, its a problem with the usb port on my phone.

  10. Mozafar says:

    Hey max,
I tried to flash the cwm and that went well, but I made a mistake not controlling if the download of the rom succeeded. And it hadn’t so I was left with only the cwm and my phone will not boot anymore. Please help me out. I look forward to hearing from you.

  11. Miguel Morão says:

Hello I’m from Brazil, and for some time I go to the site here, as the room I am finding it very good indeed! Being really honest I’ve always had some small problems with the rooms here I installed the site, small bugs that although they always showed compensatory installation, Now that the kitkat, I’m really impressed, so far at least, did not have any bug in my GT-I9100 and also having so far, great battery performance, in addition to the cell to be easy running all applications, both native and those installed, now really only have one thing that I still can not do: root access, so I request that the existing provision for I have seen here on my phone.

  14. Leonardo says:

Although thoroughly study the video that explains how to access root in CM10, I could not do the same in this room, even managed to enable the developer but have not found the option to enable access this menu, so I’m still floating here, if can help me in this matter thank, hug.

  15. haki says:

    hey E:Error in /emmc/
    (status 7)
    installation aborted
    help me

    • Gary says:

extract the Omni. open the binary script file somewhere in the META-INF folder. remove everything before the word “mount”. remember before you save to create a backup somewhere else. save, archive all as zip file. retry installation. remember you must use the cwm that max shows us.

      • exxo says:

Removing the header of the META-INF could be dangerous if the new ROM doesn’t match the device.

It’s better to flash a compatible kernel before flashing the rom.

  16. Amby says:

Max and everyone. i have this heated argument with a friend who thinks he knows everything about kernels and recoveries. I’ve heard max mentioned that the recovery is part of the kernel in GT-I9100, i’ve searched the web thoroughly but can’t find any article to support that. My friend claims no recovery is part of any kernel, that they are completely separate entities. Pls fellow GT-i9100 users, i need more facts…..

    • spider says:

You do get recoveries built into kernels, when you flash a kernel it changes the recovery image for the one built into the kernel, if if doesn’t change the recovery image then the recovery image in the kernel is the same version as the one currently installed!

  17. zahari says:

sure you will face this trouble because this is still early testing/unofficial build….so there will be many bug error in this rom….before this i have install unofficial cm11/kitkat rom ….and have face bug like sdcard won’t unmount(u cannot install zip and restore backup rom if this happen) i have lost all my file when this happen. if this happen u need to find jellybean cwm kernel and flash with odin….and install cm roms or other stable rom with cwm don’t forget to flash gapps too….it should boot again …. gudluck

  18. omar says:

I’ll be waiting for new updates.

  22. johan says:

  24. m_awadi says:

Does it work on GT-i9100G as well ?

  25. Gary says:

Has another version of this been released to us to be usable on my SGH-i777 yet?

  26. Kush4l says:

I’m loving it on my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100. Don’t care much about the video replay. I know the bug should be fixed eventually. However, I am missing just a few features that I used to have on PACMAN Rom on 4.2.2 e.x cascaded settings, PIE Control, different reboot modes when holding the power button; not very consequent since there are work arounds. Besides that it works great. Faster than any other ROM I have used before. My friends on higher end phones as the Samsung Galaxy S3 are feeling jealous. 🙂

  27. jd says:

They now have an official in ROM for the i777. I have the straight talk 959g and it runs very smooth

  28. Dilip says:

  35. anass says:

my phone doesn’t dettect the sim cart when i do this rom or the nightly rom :(( is there any suggestions please ?

    • Gary says:

I would just resart the phone. If that doesn’t work try booting to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache. Boot the phone normal. If it doesn’t work you may need to reinsert your sim card. If those ideas don’t work its beyond me. Hope this helps though.
