I thought 4.0.4 was the latest? Regardless, I use this ROM on my daily and it’s solid.

    • mnewman says:

4.0.4 is ported from an AT&T rom, and tweaked to work with Tmo. This 4.0.3 version is from the actual Tmo release, so it is compatible without all the tweaking.

  2. Brent says:

Great ROM, had issues with google play shutting down at first but did a davlik wipe and apk re-install to the newest version and is working perfect now.
“Don’t buy an iphone, because they suck” lol

  3. J says:

Even better than the AOKP rom? AOKP is working pretty good for me. But then again, I generally prefer ASOP based roms.

  4. Tim says:

Downloading this rom as i type. I hope it fixed the, deleting call log history problem with the previous darkside evolution.

  5. Peter says:

I’ve actually been running this ROM for about 3-4 days now and its AWESOME!! battery life is great and it runs better than the stock haha boots quickly everthing is great.

  6. tim says:

Smooth, super fast. Fixes all the bugs I found on the previous version. I love this from.

  7. John says:

Hello, can someone please post the STEPS that need to be taken to install this room, thanks,
do i have to download another software or just this one?

  8. vic says:

Anybody else having a GPS problem with this ROM nd its predecessor?

  9. Arlando says:

Mms bubble box has a faded look

  10. Arlando says:

Can’t send mms picture message neither

  11. Alex says:

this is pretty much stock with root, boring as hell.. ehh. Sticking with aokp, their nightlies are getting better and better. Needless to say that the call echo is gone on them as well πŸ˜€

  12. joe says:

All.it does is stay on the s logo ? Tried super wipe and everything else. Any ideas

  13. Mike says:

I attempted to install this ROM only to get a “bad zip file” error (or something to that effect….sorry…I didn’t write it down). So, I re-installed the stock ICS rom and re-rooted. Back to square 1. I don’t know if this has any bearing on things, but I was running Tasker with Busy Box and Secure Settings …. I use these for a Tasker profile that automatically enables GPS. Should I have un-installed these apps before installing the Darkside Evolution 3 ROM? I’d really like to try out this ROM, but I really hate going through the entire process again only to wind up with the same results. Any thoughts?

    • Brent says:

You don’t need to bother uninstalling any apps before you flash because you will be doing a full wipe which will delete everything anyway. I would suggest installing darkside super wipe and cache wipe to your sd card and run that before you re-install.

      • Sam says:

I’ve had the bad zip thing.. after scouring XDA forum, i found out that it was probably caused by a hiccup during the download. Try downloading it again and you should be golden. Hope this helps.

      • Mike says:

Thanks for the info. I found out about doing a full wipe the hard way. It should be done, anyway, to ensure a clean installation and that no “ghosts” are left over from the previous ROM.

  14. Jesse Holman says:

I am curious, I have downloaded and used almost all of the roms for my gs2 and lately it seems like my phones battery life is horrible lately i use super wipe and follow install intsructions to the dot, and i see comments on roms, (like this one) that says battery life is great, is there a chance i am doing something incorrect.
additionaly i also went into clock work and reset bat. stats when the phone was charged to 100%. any ideas as to why i have such bad battery life?

    • Brent says:

Resetting battery stats doesn’t do anything. Sometimes it takes a couple days for the ROM to settle in which can drain the battery faster. Also you may want to try setcpu and set your over and underclock.

      • Jesse says:

when i underclock it or even set both min/max the the max it doesn’t seem to make a differance what do you set your min / max to, and also do the profiles like power save actually do anything?

  15. MikeNeedsHelp says:

Hey Max or anybody else, I’ve had some troubles with using the phone so far and I’m not sure If it’s the rom or the radio. Not the echoing, and it was working for about a week, but now people complaining about not being able to hear me at all. I was using Tmo UVLE1 ICS MODIFIED RADIO, and just flashed Tmo UVLC8 ICS MODIFIED RADIO. So far so good with this radio, but if I don’t want it to happen again. Any having in troubles with phone microphone and/or speaker? What to try in case this radio flops in a week as well?

  20. soumaine says:

hey guys i installed this rom followed every step but my GS2 freezes on the logo and reboot itself. installed the rom again from the previous download on my sd card and it still does the same thing.

  21. Wayne says:

I’ve just Flashed this one today and so far it has been working well except for one thing. When i was using the video chat through the gtalk just testing out the various features i found it just didn’t work well. skipped a lot and i gave up after a minute or two. I would normally just use my tablet but thought i would try and see. If i come across any other issues i’ll let you all know.

  24. Mike says:

I’ve been using this rom for a week now and I love it! The only problem is that I feel like the battery life does not last as long as the stock ics rom. The DarkSIDE EVO 3 lasts about 12 hours for me while the ics stock lasted 16 hours… Does anyone know what I could do to fix this? or is it just me???? I do use fast reboot + task killers yet i still do not know the problem

  25. kris says:

Guy above me… you want the android internet BTW.. Black berry internet might not work…

    Also on another note…
Does anyone think ICS is really worth it? i think the battry life is better but other than that i think its slower than my gingerbread because of the new animations and crap. I turned off the ics animations and it still seemed slower… to toggle to make calls. Im a very demanding person and also i havent measured the performance however though qualitative testing i felt it was slower…

    What do yall think??
Im still on gingerbread after testing a few ics roms out

    • Mike says:

I’ve found battery life with the new ICS firmware (T-Mobile release) to be pretty sad. In my opinion, it was much, much better with the UVLDE build of Gingerbread. I’m about ready to revert back to that instead of staying with ICS. Seriously, I was getting a good two full days of battery with modest use of the phone, and it wasn’t even rooted or underclocked. With ICS, I’ve had to do all that just to get one good full day of battery with modest use. Anyone else seeing this?

  26. Jeffery says:

Downloaded v5 on Sunday and flashed. Everything appeared ok…reloaded apps via Titanium Backup (free version).

Monday I noticed that after 5-20 minutes one of the ringtones began playing unsolicited regardless of activity. Only way to stop it is to re-boot the device. Cant find any reason for it to start playing.

Wondering what I need to do to stop this. IT is NOT the ringtone I’ve defaulted for any notification(s).

Can I easily update to v7? I dont know how to do that, if that is an option. If it is an option do I have to reloade everything all over again.

I cant use my phone for business or pleasure calls as it is like a Jack in the Box…starts whenever, whereever.

  27. Fernando says:

hey hi there Max i have a huge question for you, I’ll be more than happy if you answer me, I installed the darkside.evolution.3 v5 Rom for the galaxys2 for tmobile and I was tryng to take a screen shot with my phone holding down the home and power button and nothing happens, did they disable that or if not how do you take a screen shot? Thank you and your videos rock my world.!

  28. John says:

ICS changed it to volume down and power now in order to take screenshots.

I was having trouble connecting to Google Talk after v7 update. I reverted to v5. Anyone else have similar issues with Google Talk on v7?

    • @John says:

Hey thank you Jhon, how exactly do you do it to take screenshots? I try holding down volume down and power button and nothing? I don’t get please explain to me how to do it right, thank you friend.

    • @John says:

Hey thank you Jhon, how exactly do you do it to take screenshots? I try holding down volume down and power button and nothing? I don’t get please explain to me how to thank you friend.

      • xanderoid says:

I think screenshot is broken with this ROM. On ics it should be volume down and power (you can’t hold volume down button, have to press simultaneously). It worked with previous darkside ROM. Am I doing something incorrectly or is this a bug?

        • robin says:

Its actually not broken. It took me a while to figure this out but taking screenshot is still the same. Power + home button. But you HAVE TO immediately press the home button right after you press the power button and hold the two buttons until a screen shot is taken.

  29. Mike says:

Finally got around to flashing this ROM. I was really disappointed. Everything seemed to be going well until I tested the GPS. It took forever to get a GPS fix, and when it did, it couldn’t tell me what north was in Google Maps. What really irked me is that when I tried to recover my rooted, stock ICS backup, it came up with an error. So, I had to unroot and re-install the stock ICS and then re-root. Needless to say, I spent more than a few hours getting everything back the way it was.

    • Mike says:

I scoured the XDA forums, and I found the developer’s thread. He included the radios for this ROM in the event people have problems with the GPS/DATA, and from what I read, more than a few were having issues. Now that I know this, I may re-install the ROM and give it another go.

  31. Android says:

Or is that what Siri calls you!

  32. @John says:

hey never mind I found out how to take screenshots! hold down power button + home button and that’s it! =D yeah!

  33. james says:

My phone is not vibrating on text message notifications. It will on facebook/twitter notifications but not texts. Any ideas?

    • joe says:

Got the same problem. Also it’s really glitchy when I text. Even with other keyboards like go installed. And the GPS won’t work. It finds the place then looses the signal.

  34. Jerry says:

I’ve flased it twice after doing the darkside wipe and no camera flask. I had given up on ics, really bad battery life, and went back to the last version of gb. I thought I would try this, but I do not want to go without the flash.

  35. van says:

Can someone please help me. after updating to the official ics for tmobile t989 i cant get back into download mode. i cant get any computer to recognize my phone and i dont have a warranty because i bought it from ebay. plz help me

  36. Steve Hewlett says:

  38. darkbizzle says:

hey max after i followed all instructions and did everything my data still doesnt work. It worked on darkside evolution 2 but since the official release of ics it hasnt worked on that or on evolution 3 can u please help me out here data just doesnt want to work now………

  39. James says:

I tried this rom but the keyboard was laggy and it was just a bit laggy overall which bothers me because when I am listening to music and I need to reply to a text my music cuts off and a static sound comes up, even when I pull down the drawer the rom lags and the music cuts off. Is there anything I can do to fix this and make it run smoother? Also where can I get the zip file to fix the radio signals for the GPS? I looked up in this thread and could not find it.

  40. James says:

Also General question but if I flash the radio for the ICS, and restore will I have th flash the radio to a previous version? Or will my restore, bring me back to the original radios I had. I am going to this ICS rom from a normal stock Gingerbread that came with my phone

  41. JD says:

I am running ICS 4.0.3 and its solid and smooth. I was wandering if somehow Svoice can be incorporated with this ROM istead of people trying to do this on SGS2’s…..thanks again for good work.

  42. NBK says:

So, there’s no NFC support with this ROM? Everything is good, except sometimes apps won’t open and I’ll have to do a reboot, which doesn’t bother me too much. And also, text is sometimes replaced with brackets like this [ ] in the dolphin browser.

I love the ROM, but does anyone know how I can get NFC support back? I tried installing this zip via this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1407808 to no avail. I think it’s only for T9100.

  43. stephan says:

i want to know how to flash this rom. odin wont find the file even though its downloaded and unzipped

  44. Jesse says:

I was curious if anyone else has had their phone get hot after using this rom or even on the V7 rom available through xda website? I have even under clocked it and left it. It isn’t that it is always hot it seems to get hot if i listen to Pandora or even some other apps.

  45. Jr says:

I saw that there are two different radios that you could flash on this rom. Do you flash both radios or just one, and if its only one that you flash any suggestion on which one to flash?

  46. MikeA says:

i’ve been using this rom for a week and it was cool, now i cant reboot my phone and some apps are tripping. Can somebody tell me how to get rid of this rom ? pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  47. Brent says:

    Version 8 is out woohoo!

  48. Jason says:

I installed this rom. Will itstill, work if i unroot my device max?

  49. Jason says:

I installed this rom acouple days ago. And im afraid to brick it . Will the rom still work if i unroot mt device?

    • Max says:

If you unroot u will lose the rom u r on obviously but make a backup in ClockworkMod Recovery so you can restore back if you ever want to.

  50. Jason says:

Two more questions. I backedup the stock rom with rom manager and i have the romfile for this rom on the sd card. So if i brick my phone i can go in th clockworkmod and flash this rom? Or the stock rom. The stock rom came tobe a couple of zip files in a folder, will clockwork mod still read the folder and flash whatever is in there?
When i chatge my device and hit ower off. My phone will turn off the sceeen and the light keys are still on and i have to pull the battery to reboot.. is there anyway to fix this?

  51. Jason says:

So your saying that if i make a backup of this rom i can flash this with clockworkmod without rpot access?

    • Max says:

Yes on the T-Mobile, the recovery partition is separate from system unlike all other Galaxy S2s, so once u have recovery, you can install new ROMs, root ur phone, everything just like a Galaxy Nexus.

  52. Jason says:

So what i do is. Backup this rom then what do i do?

  53. Jason says:

Dont get it..but how do i avoid getting it bricked

    • Max says:

Don’t install ROM from another Galaxy S2 e.g. do not install AT&T Galaxy S2 ROM on T-Mobile Galaxy S2. If you follow instructions, you won’t brick.

  54. Jason says:

Whats e.g.? And my phong wont turn off anymore. It always gets stuck on the light keys. Now i need the pull battery.. please tell me how to fix this!!!

  55. Jason says:

Pleaazzzzz.. u got to help me with this one max

  56. Jason says:

How do i run this? And you said reinstall? As in flash it again?

  57. jason says:

Max it is still not turning off. The first couple of times it did. But now its started to not turning off agian.pleazzzz . This is the only promblem on this rom for me and i love it!!help meeee!!!

  58. jasona says:

I got couple of questions.. i flashed this rom and its running great but if i dont do any changes (changes that requiers root acess) will my phone get bricked? If i just normaly use th rom and no overclocking or no set cpu. Will it brick?

  59. jasona says:

  60. bob says:

max. iflashed this rom. and before i did i got my phone unlock code… so now if i put in another sim card. will the unlock code work?

    • muraks says:

I have a tMo SGII and had it unlocked and now I am using an AT&T sim. I’ve been flashing roms with this unlocked phone with AT&T sim with no problem at all. Short answer Bob, yes you will remain unlocked whatever sim you will use and even how many times you flash your phone.

  61. Rocky says:
