For this week’s T-Mobile Galaxy S2 ROM of the week, check out latest ParanoidAndroid ROM version 3.99.

Based on latest Android 4.3, the latest ParanoidAndroid ROM brings you all your favorite ParanoidAndroid features like HALO floating notifications, ParanoidAndroid Hybrid Settings, PIE Controls, and more.

Of course, this is still a “beta” ROM so I don’t recommend it as daily driver but if you want to backup your current ROM and try it out for couple days, that would be ideal.

As for stock launcher, the Home button behaves with a heavy lag but you can fix it easily by installing a 3rd-party launcher like Nova or Apex, which I prefer anyways.

The stock camera works fine, the only thing not working is the photo taking feature while recording a video, just don’t use it but otherwise photos and videos work 100%.  (I did also upgrade my camera to the Android 4.3 PhotoSphere APK file, which gives you PhotoSphere mode also.)

Overall, ParanoidAndroid ROM seems pretty solid other than the mentioned work-arounds.  Give it a test drive this week(end) and do let me know what you think!

For installation, reboot into recovery, install Team ChopSticks recovery, reboot recovery, format /system under Mounts & Storage, wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, and reboot.  (See video above for video walk-through of installation.)

That Rom is a horrible one. I really like the halo notifications features, but since I installed the update, my phone takes 2 seconds to open the screen and another two to unlock. Focal Camera is FC, dialer also FC, but after all, it is a beta verison. I fixed these problems by instaling a 3rd party dialer and Focal Camera from XDA.
    I don’t recommed that ROM if I were u !!!!

If u r using an official update , u should install Samsung Drivers . If not, then ur phone should be connected as a media device. Does ur PC shows that installation of drivers is not successful ??

      • Michael Sta Maria says:

Theres nothing happens on my pc when i connect my phone, my phone is just charging and there is no usb logo shows up on the notification panel of my phone.
I’ve installed the drivers of Samsung…
I also try to connect other Android with the same cable, fortunately, my pc recognized it….

    • Norm says:

Try a different USB cable just in case. I know it’s a long shot but I’d rule it out.

      • Michael Sta Maria says:

I tried different cables and computers. Still unrecognized…

If u r on an official firmware and ROM, call the costumer service for T-Mobile for help. If on a custom ROM , try going to download mode and flash official T-Mobile firmware . See if it helps! 🙂

    • RN says:

U need to go for ‘USB debug’ mode under developer’s option in settings for that..

      • capreo says:

        • mina matta says:

the only way to fix that block is to use treve mod. It happens a lot !!!!
New updates, but still blocked !! U should change the ROM until it support treve mod !

          • Norm says:

            • Norm says:

Does Jedi Mind Trick JB 6 4.1.2 block tethering and need the wifi tether-treve mod? Anyone? if yes is this the download? =======> wifi_tether_v3_3-beta2.apk WiFi Tether for Root Users 3.3-beta2 *** BETA ***?

  5. Melvin Lopez says:

Thank god, I thought it would not work in this ROM

  6. Barkster says:

I can’t get the camera or gallery to work. I uninstalled gallery using tibackup and then installed photosphere but doesn’t work. It opens then sits there a second or two then reboots phone. You mention very briefly that gallery needs to be uninstalled but that’s it. Love the ROM but love my camera more.

Where to begin? Well, once again, the bad outweighs the good. Putting the v3.99 Paranoid Android on my T989 resulted in Root loss and WiFi Hotspot now brings up T-Mobile’s “Hotspot-Blocking” page. Going back to v3.65 will get rid of T-Mobile’s Hotspot-Blocking, but it won’t bring back Root. This two, very significant “BAD” points outweighs the good of Halo and the other tweaks that Team put in.

Can’t the Paranoid Android Team get it right?

  8. Richard Slatin says:

Can’t the Paranoid Android Team get it right? Flashing v3.99 onto my T989 results Hotspot use directed to T-Mobile’s Hotspot-Blocking browser page. Add to that, the Root access is lost. I can go back to their v3.65 to get unblocked Hotspot activity, but the Root is still G-O-N-E.

Help! My Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100 international) has no ROM! The ROM I downloaded could not work but I have reformatted my phone and wiped/factory reset everything! Is there any way I can put a ROM onto my phone? I have tried mounting the SD onto my PC but to no avail. I would seriously appreciate help! Thank you!

  11. Shawn says:

I really like this rom; however, I have one issue: I am unable to use Titanium Backup. It gets stuck on building exact app size, then the screen goes black.
    Please help.

Is it possible to install on my galaxy s2 9100g

  13. Lorien says:

Just tested this ROM and the stock camera is definitely not 100% functional. Like all the other Android 4.2.2+ ROMs, the Panorama mode has focal issues and results in very blurry pictures. Regular photo and video modes work fine, however.

The PhotoSphere camera doesn’t fix the focal issue in Panorama mode (in fact, the PhotoSphere mode has the exact same issue, and is extremely blurry). In addition, the PhotoSphere camera has a bug where the video mode’s view finder is displayed incorrectly (zoomed in all the way).

  14. Ukrainianoiler says:

I was really liking the ROM and battery life was really quite good. I had to switch back to 4.1 though because while my wifi at home was great I was having trouble signing into hotspots. The phone would show at the top that a wifi network was available and would connect, but my problem was that on other roms, the pulldown screen would have, after connecting, an option to press the button to sign in to whatever network I was on..

In this rom unfortunately, I would be given the prompt to sign in after it had connected, but when I would pull down the screen to get the button to sign in, there would be nothing there. Using the stock browser worked a couple times as it came up on the screen at my work hotspots sign in page….but then that was not working anymore. I don’t have a data plan so thats my only issue and only reason for downgrading to neat rom 4.1.2

Is there any easy fix known as I would like to come back to this rom – thanks either way to the devs!!!
