T-Mobile Galaxy S2 Official Jelly Bean Firmware with Root and CWM Flashable! [Fixed]

For those of you who want to try out the latest official Jelly Bean Firmware for your T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989, you don’t have to unroot, which will force you to root your phone again.

Instead, there’s a CWM flashable zip file, this is completely stock firmware with root added and you won’t lose your custom recovery as it’s packaged just like a regular, custom ROM.

You can grab it here:

[Fixed!] Download T-Mobile Official Jelly Bean + Root, mirror

To install, reboot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset (unless coming from stock or stock-like ROM), install ROM, and reboot.

I tried the update to jb with the cwm and root and ended up with a boot-loop 🙁 I’m doing the original way through keis because I can’t wait but just thought I should let you know I had trouble with the cwm+root method.

You might want to try flashing your radio to UMVC6. I searched for ‘sgh-t989_uvmc6_radio’. After flashing my phone and data works perfectly.

  4. Michelle says:

Everything works smooth but no network access for data or phone. This is more like the official-unofficial release.. The lock screen is still the annoying t-mobile look. Flashing back to CM 10.

    • Michelle says:

Also want to add that it doesn’t recognize my sim card and also Google Apps didn’t apply after flashing the 4.1.2 version.

      • Michael says:

A rom that does not recognise the sim? Who would release something like that or are we doing something wrong?

Has anyone got a fix for the phone not working, also, the camera doesn’t work tool.

  22. MannySoopa says:

Why not just post the Official Rom UNTOUCHED, fact is, the official rom’s gallery app is better, and all the official google tool apps ie calculator etc are all better than what devs go and replace it with or dont include at all. It doesn’t make any sense.

If it wasnt for the fact that I can’t restore my backup apps + data to the unrooted official JB, I wouldn’t even bother these sideshow ROMS.

  23. Bardi says:

What’s the best (overall) ROM for T-989 as of now?

  24. Michael says:

I think Darkside Evolution 3 v8 is the best. At least it’s my favorite and has the most functionality.
I would love to see a Darkside ROM built off 4.1.2. Ha, the Darkside ROM has inspired me to start
Learning how to make custom ROMs.

  25. Rodraf says:

still no working… I just tried they ROM and the system crash, there’s no baseband (Baseband Unknown), there is not contact or phone apps (to dial)
